OpenAI CEO Teases ChatGPT-5: What’s Next for AI?
A recent post by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman on X has sparked speculation that a new version of ChatGPT may be on the horizon.
Last May, OpenAI began rolling out GPT-4o Voice Mode to select ChatGPT Plus users, with plans to extend the feature to more users in the coming months. Additionally, the company has been developing a next-generation chatbot. Sam Altman’s recent post on X, which included the phrase “I love summer in the garden” alongside a photo of a strawberry—a fruit typically associated with summer—has fueled excitement. Given that the next model from OpenAI is reportedly codenamed “Strawberry,” the ripe strawberry in the post suggests that the model’s release could be imminent.
OpenAI has not yet provided any official information.
Currently, OpenAI has not announced an official release date for the model, which is believed to be called “Strawberry” but is expected to launch under the name GPT-5. This new model is anticipated to feature enhanced reasoning and research capabilities.
Meanwhile, it has been reported that OpenAI introduced a ChatGPT project with “human-like reasoning” capabilities during an internal meeting. Despite being one of the leading names in the field, OpenAI is expected to release the new model soon to stay ahead in the increasingly competitive landscape.
